Space engineers are engineers in civil and military organizations who design and build manned and unmanned aerospace vehicles to be put into orbit around the world and rockets to put them into orbit, calculate mission and route plans, constantly control them and enable them to fulfill their missions. They also take part in the realization of scientific and technological experiments to be carried out on aerospace vehicles.
The Department of Aerospace Engineering was established in 1983 simultaneously with the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics. 7 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 2 Dr. Instructor Assistant, 1 Lecturer, 9 Research Assistants. Academic members regularly take part as guest lecturers at the world's leading universities every year. The mission of the department is to produce modern graduates who can successfully take part in production, application and R&D studies in industry and research institutions at national and international level, have a creative mindset and have the ability to learn for self-development, have strong social qualifications, are environmentally friendly and contemporary, at national and international level. To carry out scientific and applied research that will enable the production of knowledge, to publish them and to put them into use. International Equivalence
The Department of Aerospace Engineering has received “Full Accreditation” from ABET, the International Accreditation Agency, until the end of 2023. The diplomas of our students who graduated from the Department of Aerospace Engineering have international validity and our students can take the "Competent Engineering" Exam.
International Relations
Our students can spend one year of their education at a European university of their choice within the scope of the European Union's ERASMUS program. Many of our students have benefited from this program since 2005, when the program started to be implemented. The number of students who apply to benefit from the program is constantly increasing every year. Countries and universities with which agreements have been made so far are: England (The Uni. of Glasgow), Sweden (Kungl. Tekniska Högskolan), Italy (Poli. di Torino, Politec. di Milano, Uni. of Napoli), Netherlands (Delft Uni. of Technology), Germany (RWTH Aachen Uni.).
